Obama - Job Stimulus!

I am amazed by the bold way that Obama can throw words, make them sound convincing, yet say nothing. A lot of his speech almost sounded like a republican – tax breaks for business-oriented expansion. (That is exactly what Reagan did to pull us out of the mess Carter got us into.) Then in almost the same breath said that he would increase taxes on the “rich” to pay for it. Then said shortly later that “after the bill is passed” he will send it to his finance committee to work out how to pay for it.

And did you catch the double-talk about the 1.7 Trillion dollars he was going to be able to cover all the work programs with? He is going to use the 1.7 Trillion of tax cuts that he just passed. First – THERE WAS NO CUT IN SPENDING! What he cut was the amount of funds he would allocate to spend across the NEXT TEN YEARS. Instead of spending 17 Trillion dollars, he would only spend 15.3 Trillion!!! But then during his speech, he said that he would use the money he cut for infrastructure.

Riddle-me-this boys and girls, how can he use phantom cuts from across the NEXT TEN YEARS to cover infrastructure jobs and pay raises for teachers NOW?

That brings up another point – aren’t these infrastructure jobs the SAME ONES he threw 1 Trillion dollars at with the first stimulus bill (only he called them “shovel-ready jobs” on that one)? It did not work the first time and it cannot work this time. (What is the definition of insanity?… Doing the same thing and expecting different results?) The problem was (and still is) that as soon as the money is spent, the people are unemployed again. Great! You build a bridge, work a couple of months, then you are on welfare again.

TRUE STIMULUS will create JOBS – not temporary work. For example: If money was spent to build oil refineries, THAT would create long-term jobs because the refinery would continue to produce long after the stimulus money had been spent.

Obama said multiple times that we MUST work on restoring American jobs and restore the idea of “American Made”, yet his chief financial adviser (the CEO of GE) just transferred two DIVISIONS of GE to CHINA! This is OUR government contracts paid by OUR tax dollars creating jobs for the Chinese. Go figure! (I guess his desire to uplift "American" jobs didn't kick in until he needed to make this speech. It obviously wasn't there the last two weeks.)

Obama is one of the greatest orators of our time. I just wish his speech writers didn’t have him talk from both sides of his mouth at the same time.
